For the first time in several years (since 2003, to be precise), one automaker has taken over Consumer Reports' "Top Picks" list, representing half of the top ten vehicles chosen. This list-dominating brand is Japanese automaker Toyota. Consumer Reports notes, "Toyota's ability to maintain its competitive lead among hybrids and SUVs is a big factor in its strong presence on this year's list."1 The Toyota Camry Hybrid and Toyota Prius were big winners this year, but they were only two of the models chosen. In the Family Sedan category, the Toyota Camry Hybrid, featuring fantastic fuel economy, a comfortable ride, and an improved design was chosen. In the Family Hauler category, the V6 version of the 2012 Toyota Sienna, which features a comfortable ride, reasonable fuel economy ratings, and excellent performance was chosen. The Toyota RAV4, which features a comfortable ride and excellent reliability was chosen in the Small SUV category.
