Toyota "100 Cars for Good" Program Is Back for 2012

Do you know of a nonprofit organization that could use some new or better transportation? For the second year in a row, Toyota has kicked off its "100 Cars for Good" program, which awards 100 Toyota vehicles to U.S. nonprofit organizations over the course of 100 days. Winners will be selected through a public voting forum on the Japanese automaker's Facebook page, and applications will be accepted there as well, until March 12, 2012.

Michael Rouse, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Affairs for the U.S. branch of Toyota explains the motivations behind the company's generosity, stating, "At Toyota, we appreciate what a big difference a new car can make for organizations working to improve lives and strengthen communities across the country, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to lend a hand. Over the last 20 years, Toyota has contributed more than half a billion dollars to nonprofits throughout the U.S.  100 Cars for Good allows us to build on that commitment in important, new ways by making the public an integral part of these efforts and harnessing the power of social media to expand awareness and galvanize support for organizations that are having such a tremendous impact in neighborhoods nationwide."1

In 2011, the Toyota program aided several key community organizations, such as a soup kitchen in New Jersey, a Detroit horseback riding program for children with cancer, and a nonprofit in North Carolina that trains and delivers service animals to wounded war veterans. Finalists this year will win one of six new Toyota models: the Toyota Camry, the Toyota Highlander, the Toyota Prius v, the Toyota Sienna Mobility, the Toyota Sienna, and the Toyota Tundra. Organizations will also be supplied a six year warranty for their new vehicles, as well as social media tools and training for their organization. Four runners up each day will receive a $4,000 grant from Toyota.
