It's a sad day for Toyota fans everywhere, as the auto company has announced its Toyota Hybrid Le Mans Racer will be missing its first competition due to a crash during testing. Though the Toyota TS030 racer was set to make its debut at the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 5^th, it can no longer make the race.

The racer's next scheduled competition after the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is the famously grueling 24 Hour of Le Mans race on June 16, 2012. We certainly hope the hybrid race car is in attendance after its recent accident, which occurred at the Paul Ricard circuit yesterday and extensively damaged the vehicle's carbon-fiber composite monocoque. Unfortunately, there are no spare parts to replace this one, and Toyota is unable to build and test another monocoque or repair the current one in time for the race. As Toyota Racing Team President Yoshiaki Kinoshita explains, "We are deeply saddened to announce this decision. Since the accident, we have looked into all options but unfortunately there is no alternative course of action open to us."¹ The team will now work feverishly to repair the vehicle in time for Le Mans.
